Varun Mehta heads Group level strategy and spearheads new ventures of Torrent Group in the areas of Electrical products, Diagnostics & Hospitals.

He is also the Director of Torrent Power and oversees the Distribution Licensee Business (covering Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Dahej, Dholera & Daman) and Transmission business of the Company. He started his career in the area of Renewable energy, where he formulated the entry strategy of Torrent in the area of renewable energy and setting up the initial set of renewable energy projects. Later, when he moved to the Thermal Generation business, and spearheaded the strategic initiative of importing LNG directly from the international markets, making Torrent Power the first Indian power company to successfully do so. This initiative led to significant benefits for the company in terms of revenue enhancement and cost savings.

He has graduated with B.Sc. in Management from University of Warwick, UK and has done MBA from INSEAD, France.
